David J. Downs lives and works in central Missouri.  In addition to more than fifteen years composing in a variety of styles—including contemporary classical, jazz, popular, and unique fusions—Mr. Downs has been commissioned to produce a litany of arrangements and transcriptions.  His unceasing engagement in what he terms "rigorous contemplation of all things, musical and otherwise" has served him well as both professional educator and writer on the philosophical foundations and pragmatic processes of music creation.
